Availability: Monday 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM, and Thursday 6 PM – 9 PM
I possess an empathic, intentional and warm therapeutic style, wherein I place value on creating strong connection, trust and rapport with you to enable you to share about yourself comfortably. In sessions I also provide structure, and am analytical and practical in my approach, as I hope to support you to new areas of growth and self-awareness.
As your psychologist, I draw across a mix of evidence-based therapeutic techniques to fit your unique concerns.These may include supportive counselling, trauma resolution and skill development in emotional regulation/management, interpersonal effectiveness and communication/social interactions.
My therapeutic is primarily that of the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) model and mindfulness which focuses on enabling you to commit to action to improve and enrich your life. Within this approach, I aim to teach you psychological strategies to: effectively manage painful and uncomfortable emotions; disengage from unhelpful thoughts about self and others; and reaffirm your purpose/direction and create motivation through your values.
I enjoy working with adults and adolescents (ages 13+) primarily in stress and burnout, mood and anxiety disorders (special interest in health anxiety and sleep disorders), eating issues, acute/complex trauma, grief and loss and emotionally intelligent parenting.
I am also particularly interested in supporting couples in regards to relationship concerns, ongoing conflict, recent transitions or loss of fulfilment. I am trained in the use of Gottman Method Couples Therapy to move to a new place of relating, through learning new communication patterns and connection building strategies.
I am truly passionate about my role as your therapist in empowering you to make changes to live a fulfilling life, and am privileged to be part of that experience. I look forward to meeting and getting to know you at Brisbane ACT Centre.
