Preparing for Motherhood with Clarity, Calm & Care.
Expert care for women navigating antidepressant use and pregnancy
If you’re a woman in your childbearing years, or planning to become pregnant, it’s important to know the facts about antidepressant medications and reproductive health.

Most commonly prescribed antidepressants are not considered safe during pregnancy. They have been solidly linked in research to potential risks for both the developing baby and the mother from early pregnancy through to delivery, and beyond, indeed into teenage years.

That does NOT mean you need to stop suddenly or go it alone.

With expert guidance and careful planning, it’s possible to safely reduce or stop antidepressants before or during pregnancy, while building the psychological tools that solidly support emotional wellbeing throughout motherhood.
What the Research Shows
• Simple, evidence-based psychotherapies — such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) are proven to improve outcomes for both mother and child.
• In contrast, continued antidepressant use during pregnancy has been associated with increased risks of complications, both physical and emotional.
• Careful, gradual hyperbolic tapering, supported by a psychiatrist skilled in both medication and effective psychotherapy, offers a safer path.
