Why should I see an ACT therapist?
How much does it cost?
GP referrals are required for psychiatrist appointments, and GP Better Access Mental Health Care Plan are required for psychologist appointments. Medicare rebates available and there is also a “gap fee” payable for each session.
Psychologist gap fees: Hour-long appointments with our psychologists incur an out of pocket expense of up to $110 depending on the individual therapist after Medicare rebate. For concession cardholders this out of pocket expense is about half that.
Psychiatrist gap fees: Hour-long appointments with our ACT expert psychiatrist have an out of pocket expense of about $198 for the initial session ($267 if it’s a “one-off” appointment for comprehensive assessment, and management plan), and just under $160 out of pocket for subsequent hourly sessions. For concession cardholders this out of pocket expense is about $120 for initial, and $90 thereafter.
Please note a $150 deposit is required for an initial assessment with Dr Purssey. The deposit will be non-refundable if the appointment is cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice.
Full fees (including Medicare component) are payable at the time of appointment by EFTPOS, Credit Card or cash, AND instant online Medicare rebating of all the fee except the “out-of-pocket expense” is available at the Centre. Please call our receptionists on 3193 1072 with any queries.
